ODP Reaches Unprecedented Heights - Garners 48 Players in 2009 Region IV and U.S. National Team Pools

Utah ODP State Technical Director Greg Maas and Technical Department Coordinator Colette Albretsen teamed up with an outstanding, dedicated, committed group of coaches, team administrators and volunteers for an incredible 2008-09 ODP campaign. Coach Maas is quick to credit the hard work and dedication of the age group coaches, players and administrators; and importantly, the commitment to player development and support for ODP by our coaches and players around the state. "US Youth Soccer's ODP is a vital program for player identification for U.S. Soccer, and as long as our coaches and players around the state continue to support ODP, we will continue to see Utah players identified into our region and national team programs," Maas said.

ODP got off to a tremendous start this past fall realizing record growth with nearly 1,600 exceptional players attending tryouts. "The interest and passion shared by everyone around the state for ODP is absolutely fantastic - which speaks volumes about the quality of our program and the tremendous people we have involved," Maas said. It is important to recognize and provide a very special 'thank you' to all of the parents, players, coaches, administrators and volunteers for their help throughout the entire year. "I truly appreciate everyone's assistance throughout the year, and I trust everyone is excited as we turn the corner and begin preparations for tryouts this coming October and November," stated Albretsen.

Coach Maas reports Utah ODP established a record for the 8th straight year garnering an unprecedented 48 selections to this year's 2009 Region IV and U.S. National Team Pools - in retrospect, Utah had a mere 5 players represented in 2001. "We surpassed last year's record by 12 players which is a remarkable accomplishment for our players and staff; and it clearly demonstrates the quality and consistency of all our programs offered throughout Utah Youth Soccer," Maas said. Congratulations to the following players who were selected to this year's 2009 Region IV and U.S. National Team Pools in their respective age groups:
