Utah Olympic Development Program
The Utah Olympic Development Program Philosophy is to identify players of the highest caliber on a continuing and consistent basis. The US Youth Soccer Olympic Development Program was formed in 1977 to identify a pool of players in each age group: To identify and provide opportunities for high potential players, facilitate their development, expose them to the next level of their chosen pathway and motivate their pursuit of excellence.
Utah ODP is offered as a compliment to club programs it is an additional resource for player development as they prepare for state, regional, national and international competitions. Players in the program have the opportunity to represent the state of Utah on a regional, national and international level. How the program works:
- Open Identification centers (tryouts) inside the state (U16-U11)
- Utah ODP Training pool (U16-U11)
- Utah ODP Final teams attend ODP West Region Championships (U16-U13)
- From Championships – U.S Youth Soccer Region Staff will select players to attend West Region Camp
- From Region Camp – U.S. Youth Soccer Region Staff will select players to attend Interregional Camp
- From Interregional Camp – U.S. Youth Soccer Region Staff will select players to attend ODP national travel teams
Additionally, UYSA believes that ODP should be accessible to all athletes regardless of their financial situations. Please contact ODP Admin, Jenni Breckenridge at jbreckenridge@utahyouthsoccer.net or the head coach in your age group if you are in need of financial assistance.
